News: SATC in NYC

Yay! Yay! Yay! It's here! The New York City premiere of the Sex and the City Movie is finally here, well was on Tuesday night. All four gals came out, (plus a gazillion fans), to finally see the film in its home base. Another fabulous party, another fabulous night of fashion. Now it's time to see it for ourselves...TODAY!
Let's Break the Fashion Down:
SJP in Nina Ricci: A for absolute fabulousness!
Kim Cattrall in Vivianne Westwood: B- for it being her best look yet.
Kristen Davis in Donna Karan: B+ for looking "Charlottey," but a bit unflattering.
Cynthia Nixon in Narcisco Rodriguez: A- for a great, though pale look.

News: I Cannes If You Cannes

Here's the usual lowdown: Cannes Film Fest keeps rolling on as stylishly as ever. Tonight was the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS benefit bash hosted by Madonna and Sharon Stone. though, sadly there's only 3 days left of the celebrity-studded fest, but (for those filmies who care, such as I) that only means the announcment of the winners; my bets for taking home the Golden Palm (i.e. best picture) are the Eastwood-Jolie flick Changeling; the Moore-Ruffalo-Bernal drama Blindness; the Brooklyn-set Paltrow-Pheonix rom-drama Two Lovers; the del Toro biopic Guerrilla/Che; or the Seymour Hoffman-Williams Synecdoche, New York- which premieres tomorrow. Actually- I'm really gonna miss all of these uber-glam fashions...

{Madonna, in '40s-style-secretary-garb, and hubby Guy Ritchie at amfAR}
{Madge at last night's premiere of her documentary I Am Because We Are, in Chanel}
{Sharon Stone at the Changling premiere, working full-on boho}

{and Sharon going in over-the-top-Roberto Cavalli-spots to the amfAR gala}

{Natalie Portman fulfilling her juror duties at the premiere of Che, in lovable Lanvin}
{Nat making a daringly perfect statement in Givenchy at amfAR}
{Michelle Williams resurfacing in Chanel from 1926 at her Adoration showing}

{Joshua Jackson & the always-gorgeous, Chanel flapper-adorned Diane Kruger}

{One of my fave old actors- Dennis Hopper and his wife, on their way to amfAR} {Mary J. Blige, with guest, going for regal red Marchesa at the amfAR event}

{Christian Slater & Jimmy Choo's Tamara Mellon in Kate Hudson's SAG Balmain}

{Georgina Chapman, co-designer of Marchesa, presumably in the line, at amfAR}{Dita von Teese dramatizing amfAR, in a stunning signature '40s look}

Have You Met: Internet It Girl Cory Kennedy?

It's time for another new feature: 'Have You Met.' This segment is where I'll introduce prominent (or just plain cool) people in fashion.

First up is Cory Kennedy; she's an 18-year-old "Internet Celebrity" whose making a name for herself through modeling, but mostly partying with many other (more famous than her) celebs, from the likes of Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and [is considered to be fairly close friends with] my fave actor Emile Hirsch. I'll admit this- she's very much a "love her or hate her" gal, and most prefer the latter, but I find myself in the middle and find her quite intriguing. She's not particularly attractive (with the exception of these UD ads; unless you like the drugged-out look) and has no particular talents other than the coolness I feel she evokes. But she has turned a quirky personality and even quirkier fashion sense into a mini career; she's been featured in and modeled for Nylon magazine and was the Fall 2007 face of the hip makeup line Urban Decay. I'm not saying she's a role model, I'm just throwing her name out there because I find her really interesting.

StyLit: Eccentric Glamour

"Style + Lit(erature) = StyLit!"
Welcome to a new segment on Fashion Forward, StyLit, get it? Here I'll feature great fashion books and magazines and articles that are worth reading.

My latest fashionable read, Eccentric Glamour: Creating an Insanely More Fabulous You by Simon Doonan (who you may know as the witty and wisecracking British lad from Vh1's specials such as "I Love the '80s") is a guide, not only to clothing, but life. It teaches that thinking outside the box and being different and, well, eccentric is a fabulous thing. Bestselling author Doonan offers a refreshing take on today's "porno-chic" (of which he's totally against) and explains the three types of fashionable women. The book also features interviews with actresses Lucy Liu and Tilda Swinton; and two of my fave people- burlesque star Dita von Teese and interior designer Kelly Wearstler.

Look for Less: Kate's Light and Cheery Simplicity

How 'bout a little more Kate Moss for ya? Last week Kate took advantage of London's fantastic weather and sported this super-springy frock paired with her signature ballet flats. I love, love, love her in this easy and simple go-anywhere outfit and now you can get a look very similar- the dress was designed by her!

This dress is exclusive, that's why it's so small!

News: Kate Moss for Topshop Sneak Peek

Kate's summer collection for British cheap-and-chic store Topshop has arrived! Be happy! The frocks, tops, and shorts are all, as always, invigorated with the supermodel's signature style. I'm lovin' these two pieces, but if you need more of a Kate fix, click the link below.

News: Cannes I Help You?

I'm running out of "Can/Cannes" puns... Anyway, the glamorous film fest continues on, with all of those celebs we just can't get enough of appearing on and off the red rug. I'm loving the fact that we're seeing lots of Brad and Angie, as well as Gwyneth- whose continuing to look super hot after all of those fab Iron Man looks. And I'm most grateful that the fest continues through the 25th!

{Angelina Jolie in Dolce & Gabbana, at the Changeling photocall}
{Angie, love the detailed neckline from Reem Acra, and Brad at the Changeling premiere} {and the couple out to dinner in the French city}{Dita von Teese at last night's Chopard gala, looking her typical glam self}{and Dita at the Changeling premiere in Christian Lacroix, earlier tonight}

{Salma Hayek also at the Chopard party, looking more than a little frumpy in Gucci}

{Salma working her sexier side on another red carpet}{Gwyneth Paltrow working full-on-Grecian in Lanvin, at Chopard}

{Gwyn in a summery Celine LBD and Burberry sandals, at the Two Lovers photocall}

{and wearing another hit in Chanel at the premiere of Two Lovers}{Christina Ricci being her cute, petite self in Bottega Veneta at Chopard}

{Will and Jada Pinkett Smith on the French streets; Jada in a trendy jumpsuit by Sea}

News: Just Cannes-ing Around

The Cannes Film Fest continued in its stylish manner, as always. Last night was the premiere of the one-and-only Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which brought out all the major attendees, as it is the biggest film opening there this year. But aside from that, there have been many other red rug openings of foreign films and bashes that were attended by many of the most fashionable.
{Penelope Cruz working the white drama at the Vicky Cristina Barcelona premiere}

{and at the film's photocall in L'Wren Scott}

{Cate Blanchett at the Indy 4 premiere, in gunmetal Armani Prive

{Cate at Indy's photocall in a purple floral number, purple seems to be a Cannes color}

{Perfect Natalie Portman in a navy vintage Chanel Couture gown, at Indy's showing}

{Eva Longoria Parker in a sassy peacock tube dress, working some hot spots}

{Salma Hayek working green Balenciaga and a milkmaid braid at Indy 4}

{Mischa Barton spent her last night at the French festival in Roberto Cavalli}

{Dustin Hoffman with his guest; and Lucy Liu at the Kung Fu Panda premiere}

Trend Radar: Purple Ruffles

What a lovely look! It's perfect for spring, summer, winter, or fall, depending on the fabric and cut of the dress. If tiers are big now, ruffles seem to be falling in their wake.

{Natalie Portman in Lanvin}

{Charlize Theron in Dior}

SJP's Loves to Make a Statement

Sarah Jessica Parker is working her Manolos off promoting Sex and the City. I love seeing her out and about, which is what she was doing this past week in London following the film's world premiere in the British City. Off the red (or pink) rug, Sarah's been flaunting her usual adventurously perfect wardrobe. Less than 2 weeks till the film and even less time till the (huge) NYC premiere.
{In yet another statement necklace- I told you Carrie's known to start a trend!}

{This reminds me of Kim's London look, but much better}
